Cultures established as described in the Methods were grown in the presence of NT-3 or GDNF, both at 10 ng/ml concentration, fixed after 12 or 36 hours and subsequently stained with PGP 9.5. Values represent the mean of neuronal numbers counted in 3 separate experiments, each treatment consisting of 3 replicas per experiment. Values in parentheses represent ± SEM.
