Synthesis of DPEN-derived catalyst ( R , R )-8. General conditions: (i) (R,R)-(+)-1,2-diphenylethylenediamine (3 eq.), EtOH, 45°C → rt, 2 h; NaBH4 (4 eq.), EtOH, rt, 8 h; (ii) (R,R)-7 (1 eq.), [RuCl2(DMSO)4] (1 eq.), THF, μw, 120°C, 20 min.
